Instructions:
Welcome to Day Ten! You made it to the double digits.
Read Chapter Ten of One Simple Thing.
Then, color page 92-3 of The Yoga Anatomy Coloring Book Pose by Pose. Practice the pose after coloring. I used two blocks under by sit-bones or my iliam and then removed one as I warmed up.
Finally, read aloud the cueing for this pose from pages 120 & 121 of The Yoga Bible.
Bonus: Try too many props and then too little to see how this effects your ability to raise your arms in this pose.
Extra credit: Practice some of the bandas or breathe work while in this pose that we've been reading about in One Simple Thing.
My Journal Entry from Day Ten:
From One Simple Thing:
"A little bit of self-honesty goes a very long way, and our nature, or personality, is revealed to us through the way that we practice yoga, enjoy life, work and sleep" (page 169)
Today's chapters about sleep and food are check-ins for how we care for ourselves. I've never really experiences digestion or sleep problems, but I like the idea that it is through practices that can influence our parasympathetic nervous system that we can quiet voices that might keep us awake.
From today's yoga class:
Key Words: Athletic
Today, I took a class with Angela at Harlem Yoga Studio today. Today we did a bit of core work during the yoga class. I heard Angela call some yoga practices as athletic and I enjoyed the use of that term. As an athlete, this terms doesn't mean competitive to me as much as it means the application of a physical will to feel out boundaries.
